Women of Centerfield Take On WIN Summit 2019

Earlier this month, the incredibly talented and hard-working women of Centerfield’s New York office attended the 2019 WIN Summit, an annual learning event that empowers women through negotiation skills-building.

Led by world-renowned professors, distinguished thought leaders, and top industry leaders, the purpose of the WIN (Women’s Insights on the Art of Negotiation) Summit is to help professional women learn new tools, techniques, and strategies to become more successful business negotiators.

In partnership with Columbia University and The Negotiation Institute, this year’s summit centered around three themes: negotiation, leadership, and diversity. The agenda included workshops and panels led by some seriously inspirational women, including Yxa Bazan, Executive Director at JPMorgan Chase, Tanya N. Blocker, President of the Association of Black Women Attorneys, and Michelle Lee, Editor-in-Chief of Allure.

Sessions centered around topics such as, “Proven Strategies of Turning a “No” into a “Yes”, “How to Prepare for a Successful Negotiation”, and “Intergenerational Negotiation: Learning How to Navigate The Divide”. Forbes Top 25 Networking Expert Michelle Tillis Lederman, CEO of Executive Essentials and author of three books, led an impactful session on the importance of being a connector and how small or large connections can drive a successful negotiation.

Jennie Marange, Senior Director of Publishing and Strategic Partnerships at Centerfield, said this year’s summit was extremely insightful.

“We learned strategies and tools to become more successful negotiators both personally and professionally. One large highlight surrounding the conference was truthfulness and authenticity… to be true and authentic when implementing any negotiation strategy. Also, really knowing your value. Taking the time to internally define, describe, and own your value with real authenticity will help you successfully negotiate anything.”

Jacqueline Hsu, Business Development, added:

“Being authentic in your approach is important both for personal and client-related negotiations. Whether you’re naturally more assertive or more soft-spoken, it’s important to stay true to yourself without trying to cover up your inherent qualities.”

Centerfield is proud to have such a strong group of diverse women representing us at events like the WIN Summit. We want to give a huge shoutout to the women of Centerfield for collectively knocking our business goals out of the park. Thank you for everything you do, Centerfielders! You are integral to our success!
